Acetate Die-cutting to CNC

Blanks for plastic eyeglass frames are die cut from sheets of cellulose-acetate.
After the design and technical drawing is decide, a die is made out of steel and is fitted in a blanking machine that punches blanks out of the sheets of cellulose-acetate.
The blank frame fronts are finished in a series of operations.
The frames are then smoothed to remove rough edges by two different abrasive machines.

Producing Acetate Temple

The temples are also punched out of sheets of acetate with blanking dies.

The temples may be flat with angular edges or rounded in shape, depending on the frame style.

The temples are heated, and a narrow strip of steel called a core wire is also heated.

When the right temperatures are reached, a core wire is inserted into the center of the softened temple.

Accessories and Splicing

After the frames and temples are made separately, we need to do some fine work.

There will be some small decorative pieces, hinges, nose bridge and other small parts on the glasses.

Each small part is carefully crafted by machine, welding, and hand.

22 Procedures

Soldering

All the soldering processes(bridge soldering, temple soldering, lock soldering, rim soldering etc. are made my steady mold, that allow us tooffer customers frames with precision dimensions.

Using Japanese tin to assure the soldering qualtiy.

26 Procedures

Polishing

The glasses will be polished for 4-5 days in a roller filled with diamond-shaped wood blocks, fine sand, polishing powder, and a little grease.

Cotton wheels, wool wheels, white wax, purple wax, and yellow wax are all polishing tools and materials in different processes.

We polish the rough surface of the frames and temples to be smooth and round without scratching.

After a few links, the glasses will slowly reveal their gem-like luster.
